PlayStation Plus monthly games for July 2022 announced.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the July 2022 lineup of monthly games for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers, which will be available starting July 5.
The July 2022 lineup is as follows:
Arcadegeddon (IllFonic) – Gilly, the owner of a local arcade, is trying to save his business from a faceless mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co. …and what better way to stick it to the man than with a brand-spanking-new super game. Unfortunately, the corp gets wind of Gilly’s plan and launches a cyberattack, injecting a virus into the game. Now it’s up to you to rise up and save both the game and the last remaining local arcade in this ever-evolving co-op multiplayershooter. Offering a mix of player-versus-environment and player-versus-player gameplay, you and up to three friends online to explore multiple biomes, compete in mini games, find hidden chests, and battle a crazy cast of enemies and bosses. Crash Bandicoot 4 (Activision) – An all-new Crash adventure awaits! Dr. Neo Cortex and N. Tropy are back at it again and launching an all-out assault on not just this universe, but the entire multiverse. Wield four powerful guardians of space and time that give Crash and Coco the power to bend the rules of reality and conquer dangerous obstacles in exciting new ways. And you’ll not only play as the wumping, jumping, marsupial duo: experience things from different perspectives with the one and only Dr. Neo Cortex. Play as Crash, Coco, Tawna, Dingodile, or Dr. Neo Cortex and battle bosses such as N. Gin, Louise, Nitrus Brio, and Nefarious Tropy. Arcadegeddon (IllFonic) Crash Bandicoot 4 (Activision) The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (Bandai Namco) – In this branching, cinematic horror game from the creator of Until Dawn and The Quarry , five friends set sail on a holiday diving trip that soon changes into something much more sinister. All playable characters can live or die, with the choices you make deciding their fate. Experience your terrifying story alone, with a friend online or go for safety in numbers with up to five players offline.

Here's everything we know, and everything we can [+] [-] guess, about next month's PlayStation Plus lineup. Credit: Sony.
It’s almost that time of the month again. This week, Sony will reveal next month’s free PlayStation Plus games for the basic PS Plus Essential tier.
There are now three tiers:
PS Plus Essential is the basic level, granting you access to online gaming and the handful of free games each month as well as special deals and goodies for various games. This tier costs $9.99/month or $59.99/year.
PS Plus Extra gets you all of that plus a bunch of other PS4 and PS5 games similar to Xbox Game Pass for $14.99/month or $99.99/year.
PS Plus Premium is all of the above plus special game trials and a classic catalog of PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 games. You also get cloud streaming. This costs $17.99/month or $119.99/year.
For the purposes of this post, we’ll be looking at the games headed to PS Plus Essential in July, though all three tiers will gain access to them on July 5th.
PS Plus July 2022 Leaks & Rumors.
There haven’t been may leaks for PS Plus in recent months, but that all changed this past weekend when a reliable leaker posted the three July titles. The list sounds legit, but since it’s a leak and not an official announcement, you should take it with a grain of salt.
The three leaked titles are:
These all sound like the exact types of games Sony would release on PS Plus. Crash Bandicoot 4 has been out for a while, and it’s a nice premium AAA platformer that should make lots of subscribers happy.
Arcadegeddon is a multiplayer shooter that actually releases on July 5th, the day these PS Plus titles go live, so that definitely fits. The only weird entry is The Dark Pictures: Man Of Medan which is already offered for free for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. I guess sometimes that’s bound to happen.
Beyond this leak there are no rumors to speak of, so we’ll leave it at that.
PS Plus July 2022 Predictions.
I typically write up predictions when there are no credible leaks and since we have a very credible leak it may be pointless at this point.
I am curious, however, to see what Sony adds to the Extra and Premium tiers in July. These catalogs will see games come and go halfway through each month. So now there will be the PS Plus Essential games on the first Tuesday of each month, and another wave of new additions two weeks later. Games will also leave these services—the Essential lineup each month and other titles later on.
For instance, games leaving PS Plus “soon” include all of June’s excellent games, plus:
PS Plus Premium Titles.
Red Dead Redemption (PS3) — Leaving in October Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (PS3) — Leaving in October.
PS Plus Extra Titles.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4) — Leaving in September NBA 2K22 (PS5/PS4) — Leaving in August WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship (PS4/PS5) — Leaving in August Shadow Warrior 3 (PS4) — Leaving in July.

Meanwhile, we know of one game coming to the Extra/Premium tiers that isn’t coming to regular old PS Plus Essential. Stray is the first new game to hit these higher PlayStation Plus tiers and not be available to subscribers at the base Essential level.
The game from Blue Twelve Studio and Annapurna Interactive is a “third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed, neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly.” Which, let’s face it, sounds pretty damn cool. Almost cool enough to get me to subscribe to PS Plus Premium for a year (which would also be a great excuse to play a bunch of old PS2 games I dearly miss).

PlayStation Plus free games for June 2022 announced.
Big changes for PS Plus this month, but the freebies remain solid.
By Joe Anderton Published: 04 June 2022.
June is a big month for PlayStation Plus, as the large download/streaming library of fellow subscription service PlayStation Now gets folded into Plus in territories outside of Asia.
The 'new' PS Plus is made of three tiers: Essential is exactly the same as Plus is now, Extra brings over the large downloadable library of PS4 games from PS Now, and adds some PS5 games into the mix, while Premium adds Now's selection of stream-only PS3 games and a new batch of downloadable PS1 and PSP titles, as well as the option to stream the vast majority of the entire Plus library.
Today, we're going to focus on the free titles from the standard PS Plus membership, since that's what most people have and will continue to be subscribed to, and unlike games on the higher tiers that could come and go (as subscription service content tends to do), these main Plus freebies are yours to keep for as long as you are subscribed.
Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The main freebie this month is 2018's God of War . A revival of the super-gory mythology-themed murder-thon, this entry continues Kratos' story but easily acts as a jumping-on point for newcomers, as the time, setting, structure and gameplay have all radically changed.
Our perpetually angry main protagonist is now a dad to Atreus, a meek boy who needs to learn how to fight if they are to embark on a journey to spread the boy's mother's ashes, while a powerful and mysterious figure keeps popping into their lives to cause trouble.
The game is currently on PS Now and is free to claim for Plus subscribers who have a PS5 console, but it's such a critically-acclaimed game, you can see why Sony wants to make it free for all Plus subscribers (and the sequel Ragnarok is on the way so why not get everyone up to speed?).
PlayStation.
Next up, we've got Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker , part of the incredibly popular (and long) Naruto franchise which has seen several solid fighting games release over the years.
The draw of this entry compared to say, the Ultimate Ninja Storm games, is that battles are now four-on-four, and features content from the Boruto sequel series. If none of that makes any sense to you, just know that there are anime ninjas with incredibly over-the-top powers and some gorgeous graphical shading.
