PlayStation Plus Free Games for March 2023 Now Available.
Sony's new lineup of free PS5 and PS4 games for PlayStation Plus in March 2023 are now available to download. During PlayStation's latest State of Play event in February, the incoming lineup of PS Plus titles were first shown off to subscribers. And while this slate of games was met with a bit less enthusiasm compared to January and February's offerings, March is still shaping up to be another solid month for the PlayStation service.
As we have come to expect, three different games are being included in PS Plus for March 2023. This month's lineup is notably headlined by Battlefield 2042 , which is the latest entry in EA's long-running shooter series. Although B2042 got off to a bit of a rough start when it released back in 2021, Season 4 of the game just kicked off recently and brought a vast number of changes to the title. Additionally, Battlefield 2042 is available to download natively for PS5 and PS4 as part of PS Plus.
As for the other two games that are being handed out this month, they happen to be Minecraft Dungeons and Code Vein . Minecraft Dungeons is a spin-off in the mega-popular Minecraft series that has more in common with Blizzard's Diablo series than it does the franchise it stems from. Code Vein , on the other hand, is a Soulslike title from Bandai Namco that contains vibrant, anime-style artwork. Both games will be natively available for PS4 alone through PS Plus but can also be played via backward compatibility on PS5.
If you'd like to learn more about all of these new free games that are available via PS Plus, you can find descriptions and trailers for each attached below.
Battlefield 2042.
" Battlefield 2042 is a first-person shooter that marks the return to the iconic all-out warfare of the franchise. In a near-future world transformed by disorder, adapt and overcome dynamically-changing battlegrounds with the help of your squad and a cutting-edge arsenal."
Minecraft Dungeons.
"Fight your way through an all-new action-adventure game, inspired by classic dungeon crawlers and set in the Minecraft universe! Brave the dungeons alone, or team up with friends! Up to four players can battle together through action-packed, treasure-stuffed, wildly varied levels – all in an epic quest to save the villagers and take down the evil Arch-Illager!"
Code Vein.
"In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity's past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity. Wandering aimlessly in search of blood, the Lost will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger. Team up and embark on a journey to the ends of hell to unlock your past and escape your living nightmare in Code Vein ."

PlayStation Plus's full list of Extra and Premium free games for March 2023 has been announced, after a few of the Extra titles were announced earlier than usual during a State of Play live stream.
Extra, the mid tier, gives users access to a library of hundreds of titles. Meanwhile, Premium adds streaming options and retro titles that are either remastered or emulated with rewind and save state functions.
As a reminder, the already-announced titles for this month are: Tchia (PS5, PS4), the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PS5), Ghostwire Tokyo (PS5), Immortals: Fenyx Rising (PS5/PS4) and Rainbow Six Extraction (PS5/PS4) .
Square Enix.
These games will be joined by four Square Enix titles, including Life Is Strange 2 (PS4) and Life Is Strange: True Colors (PS5/PS4).
These emotional games focus on young people who discover they have superpowers and follow them as they deal with love, rivalries, authority, untrustworthy adults, religious extremists and corrupt corporations. You know, typical teenage stuff.
Also hitting the service are two action JRPG that couldn't be more different. NEO: The World Ends with You (PS4) is a super-stylish jaunt through Tokyo, mixing modern Japanese fashion and music with otherworldly monsters and psychic powers.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (PS4) is one of the darkest games in the long-running series, giving players a team of elite military cadets to control in a steampunk world ravaged by war.
Square Enix.
Another addition is Haven (PS5/PS4), an acclaimed indie that mixes RPG combat with anti-gravity skating and dating sim elements.
You play as a couple exploring strange floating islands in space, clearing up weird goo and fighting enemies while vibing to its synthwave soundtrack. You can play as a male/female, male/male or female/female couple.

In the build up to the big reveal, fans have been predicting what they think will join the line-up in May.
Sony first-party games often come to PS Plus, which is why many fans believe Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart, or The Last of Us Part 2 will join PlayStation Plus in May.
Sifu is another popular pick in the predictions thread on Reddit, alongside titles like Sekiro, Nier Automata, LEGO Star Wars, FIFA 23, and Alan Wake Remastered.
Other subscribers think we'll get a Resident Evil game, or maybe a title from the Far Cry series.
Needless to say, there are plenty of mentions for indie games, such as The Pathless, Cult of the Lamb, Death's Door, and Spelunky 2.

Humanity available Day 1 as a PlayStation Plus Game Catalog title, out May 16.
Move over “International Pickle Day,” May 16 has a new number one claim to fame: it’s the launch day for Humanity! Better yet, it’ll be available on Day 1 as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog’s May lineup, available at no additional cost to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members. Whether you own a PS5 or PS4, are a PS VR2 or PS VR or TV-only gamer, want to craft your own levels or just sit back and enjoy some action-platforming and puzzle-strategizing, this year May 16 is going to mean more than just “National Piercing Day.”
What did I just watch?
We wanted to announce Humanity’s launch date with a trailer that truly reflects the game: fun, a bit weird (in a good way) and starring an adorable lil’ shiba inu. Oh, and importantly: clearly, undeniably Japanese.
What better way to do that than to recreate the wild – and brilliant – Japanese PlayStation ad campaigns of the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 era? (If you haven’t seen them, it’s worth a search on YouTube, I promise)
We’ve been incredibly flattered to hear Humanity compared to classics of this era like Intelligent Cube, Echochrome, and Devil Dice (among others), even Katamari Damacy and Parappa the Rapper – all fresh and unique designer-led games out of Japan that broke new ground and did it with style . And whether you’ve played those titles or not, or were even gaming back then, we hope you’ll enjoy that same spirit in Humanity: stylish and different, but with a deeply satisfying experience at the core.
Ok, but what type of game is it?
In Humanity, you control that glowing shiba inu, placing commands on the ground for a giant marching horde of people to follow. Make them turn, jump, float through the air, swim, climb, etc., all to reach the goal (or goals) in each stage. The game gradually introduces these mechanics and more, combining them with each other and new elements to ramp up the challenge the further you go. Curious to know more? Be sure to check out the gameplay trailer we shared during February’s State of Play.
So why the doggo?
Well, I mean, why not ? The dev team explored a couple of different interface approaches, from a more simple, generic cursor to having one of the humans take the lead. But considering the relationship between dogs and humans in real life and the story we wanted to tell, it just felt natural. If the humans in the game have lost their own will, mind, and soul, who would they want to follow without questioning it? A dog! When we tried it out, everything clicked.
What’s the pupper’s name?
It doesn’t have one – the shiba in the game is you! You wake up as a shiba Inu with no memory of what happened before, including your name.
Why PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium?
Of course we want as many folks as possible to enjoy Humanity’s 90-plus stage single-player Story Mode, but the most exciting part of launching into PlayStation Plus Game Catalog is it guarantees a massive audience for our game’s robust user-generated content features: a ton of players will be out there creating, sharing, and playing each other’s custom-built stages, right from day one.
Whoa, is that a boss fight?
That’s right. Humanity’s Story Mode stages run the gamut along the action-puzzle spectrum, from lean-forward platformer-style “action” levels that will test your reflexes, to lean-back “puzzle” head-scratchers where you might even put the controller down while you think something through – and everything in-between. The game is constantly introducing new mechanics, and mixing and matching them with everything you’ve learned so far to make it feel like you’re always challenged, and never know what’s coming next.
So what is next?
There’s a lot more Humanity to talk about – the narrative in our single-player Story Mode, our optional VR compatibility (PS VR2 or PS VR), unlockable rewards, details on our super-intuitive Stage Creator, all the crazy-amazing stuff people made and shared in User Stages during our limited-time demo, etc.
So keep an eye out for more info and videos in the coming days leading up to May 16, which this year is not just “National Barbeque Day,” but Humani-Tuesday!
