Best Electric SUV: 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 – MT Score 9.6/10.
The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai's first dedicated electric vehicle, and by all accounts it's a home run. Not only did it score a 9.6/10 in our rankings, but it's also our 2023 SUV of the Year, rising above a large and strong field at the competition. Its striking design is a head turner, and the interior boasts thoughtful touches including a driver's seat that reclines and has a leg rest for maximum relaxation while waiting at the charging station. Thankfully the wait shouldn't be too long thanks to the Ioniq 5's ability to charge its battery from 10 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes at the most powerful stations.

Best Electric SUV: 2023 Kia EV6 – MT Score 9.3/10.
The 2023 Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 share the same dedicated electric platform, so it's no surprise that the Kia is also a top-ranked EV SUV. With futuristic styling inside and out, super-quick charging, and great handling dynamics, the Kia EV6 is the most exciting vehicle to come from the brand since the Stinger sport sedan. The EV6's broad lineup starts with the base model Wind, which is EPA-rated at 310 miles of range. At the other end of the spectrum is the EV6 GT, which is one of the quickest EV SUVs MotorTrend has tested, with a 0-60-mph time of just 3.2 seconds.

The Model Y can be had in either a five-seat or seven-seat, three-row configuration, though the back seat is only suitable for pint-sized people. Two trim levels are available starting with the Long Range version good for about 330 miles of range. Meanwhile, the Model Y Performance ran from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds in our testing, and it can travel a little over 300 miles between charges, per the EPA. Furthermore, access to Tesla's extensive and dependable network of Supercharger charging stations is a major selling point that can't be overlooked.

But if there's a GV60 in your future, you'll soon find yourself gazing into the captivating crystal sphere that spins to reveal the gear selector when you start the vehicle. It's just one intriguing design detail in an SUV loaded with high-tech features, including facial recognition to unlock the doors and a fingerprint sensor to start the SUV without a key. The top-spec GV60 Performance AWD sprints to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds thanks to a Boost mode that temporarily bumps the AWD powertrain's from 429 to 483 horsepower. The tamer base model GV60 Advanced AWD makes 314 hp and is estimated to be about a second slower, but it has an EPA-rated 246 miles of range (compared to 235 miles for the Performance AWD).

Best Electric Luxury Midsize SUV: 2023 BMW iX – MT Score 8.5/10.
The BMW iX is similar in size to the X5, but the similarities end there. Developed and built from the ground up as a fully electric vehicle, the BMW iX is a glimpse into the automaker's electrification ambitions. Its carbon-fiber-intensive body construction and daring exterior styling are just a few standout features of the iX, which is currently offered in two trim levels: iX xDrive50 and iX M60. Best Electric Luxury Midsize SUV: 2023 Cadillac Lyriq – MT Score 8/10.
With a stellar combination of futuristic vibes and distinctive Cadillac styling cues, the 2023 Lyriq not only looks great but is also a good EV SUV. It's the brand's first electric vehicle that seats five passengers and spoils them with an interior brimming with special touches and flashy tech, including a dramatic 33-inch display that combines the instrument panel and infotainment screen. It rides good, too, and can go a tad over 300 miles per charge. Despite a few fit and finish issues, the Lyriq is a promising look at Cadillac's electric future.
